I stand before you to advocate for a compassionate, just, and holistic response to Equitable health. At Elohim Urban Mission, we recognize that health is more than the absence of disease-it is the full integration of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. The lived experience often impacts the spirit and community more deeply than the body, and it is our moral duty to address these dimensions with empathy and action.
We must break the chains of stigma, discrimination, and homophobia that continue to fuel this epidemic. Faith communities have a unique and powerful role to play in creating safe, affirming spaces where people live and are embraced with dignity and love. By partnering with government agencies, community organizations, and those directly impacted, we can dismantle social barriers and promote equity.
Let us invest in education, support services, and policies that uplift marginalized communities and ensure access to care for all. Together, we can transform fear into understanding, isolation into community, and despair into hope.
With gratitude,
Rev. Lamont Lewis
